I killed this bull late one evening and we didn’t have the mules with us that evening… so we decided to just leave him alone instead of 1/4’ing him up… we wanted to eliminate the scent as much as possible….. We decided to hang my blaze orange hat on a twig so when we came back next morning we could easily find the spot from 1000 yards down the hill….. came next morning and couldn’t find the blaze orange hat! We ended up going up where we remembered and stumbled upon the bull…. We had a little snow event that evening and a grizzly had come in and consumed both hind quarters and its internal organs and hauled butt…. He was there just moments before we were. No fault to @richardsonsports hats, that Grizzly smelled the sweat band and grabbed ahold of it and tore it off the tree…..They’re still my go to brand.
