The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre has been placed in the best-performing segment of a new national ranking system for NHS organisations in England. We also achieved the eighth best score nationally out of the 134 acute NHS providers that were assessed. The NHS Oversight Framework (NOF) rates NHS organisations in England against a range of metrics that cover waiting times, treatment outcomes, patient safety, patient experience, people and workforce, and finance and productivity. There are 4 segments: 1 – High performing 2 – Above average 3 – Below average 4 – Low performing The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre has been placed in segment 1 (high performing), based on our performance in the first quarter (April, May and June) of 2024/25. Ratings will be updated every three months and published on a national website. Not all metrics apply to every organisation. For example, only hospitals with emergency departments are scored on A&E waiting times. Some metrics are based on whether an organisation is achieving targets in the plan it agreed with NHS England for 2025/26. Joan Spencer, Chief Executive of The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre, said: “The NHS Oversight Framework assesses organisations against a rigorous set of criteria. Being placed in the best-performing segment is a real testament to the hard work of our staff and teams who deserve enormous credit for these results.” We are committed to building on this through ongoing innovation, collaboration and dedication to providing excellent care to the people we serve.

After 20+ years working in admin, Colin wanted a new challenge and had always had a goal of moving into a patient facing role, but he wasn't quite sure how to get there. Colin shadowed our radiotherapy support workers in his own time for months, determined to gain the experience needed to apply for a role in the team. And we are delighted to say that Colin has been one of our fab radiotherapy support workers since June 2025! Read more of Colin's story here 👉 /no9ZB Start your own CCC story 👉 /gQFL4

🥇 We’re rated one of the top hospitals in England for the sixth year running🥇   The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre is delighted to have once again been rated as one of the top hospitals in the country for inpatient care in the National Inpatient Survey.   Our Trust was rated third best nationally and one of only eight hospital trusts to achieve the top overall rating of ‘Much better than expected” by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).   The survey involved 131 NHS organisations in England and was completed by over 62,000 patients across the country who spent at least one night in hospital in 2024.   These amazing results are a testament to the hard word and dedication of our teams across our inpatients wards, who strive every day to offer the very best care and support to our patients. A huge thank you to them! And also to our patients, who took the time to fill in the survey.

Each year in the UK, approximately 1 in 3 people with cancer will experience a mental health problem before, during or after treatment. This #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek we want to remind our patients that help is available, both at CCC and within the local community. We hope you're able to find the support that's right for you 💚

We are changing the patient portal we use to support people with 3 blood conditions: • Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) • Monoclonal B-cell lymphocytosis (MBL) • Monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance (MGUS) We are changing from MyMedicalRecord to Patients Know Best (PKB). If you are under our care for CLL, MBL or MGUS: • You will get an email or SMS text message inviting you to register for your PKB account. • Then we will send a letter to tell you when your clinical information is available on PKB. You will also get a letter asking you to have a blood test before your next review. • At the end of May 2026, we will stop using MyMedicalRecord. This change will not affect your care or your clinical team. It is just a different system for communicating and sharing information with you. You can also use Patients Know Best to communicate and share information with us. Read more on our website: /NyApC

Today is International Nurses Day 🫱🏾‍🫲🏻 🦸🏼‍♀️ 🫂 👨🏿‍⚕️ 💙 🌍 At The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre, we recognise the value of nursing, throughout the organisation. From our Chief Executive Joan, herself still a registered nurse, to our staff nurses and support workers, the efforts of our team do not go unnoticed. Our Senior Nursing Team took a few minutes to walk around our Wirral site this week, catching up with colleagues to say thank you for all their incredible work, on International Nurses Day, and every day. As well as going to visit our teams in their workplaces, senior leaders made sure the nursing staff stayed hydrated and caffeinated with some teas and coffees - small gestures to say thank you for all that they do! Happy International Nurses Day to all nursing staff across the globe - thank you for everything you do!

Today is World Ovarian Cancer Awareness Day 🤍 Ovarian cancer can affect anyone with ovaries. And even if you’ve had your ovaries removed, you may still be at risk. But early diagnosis is key to making sure this type of cancer can be treated quickly. Earlier this week, Dr Danielle Shaw, Consultant Medical Oncologist from The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre, spoke to Kevin Duala on BBC Radio Merseyside about the signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer and some of the care and support available to those who are diagnosed. Symptoms can include: 🤍 Bloating that doesn’t come and go 🤍 Changes to your appetite 🤍 Going to the toilet more frequently or rushing to go to the toilet 🤍Pain in the tummy or pelvis If you are concerned about any symptoms, please speak to your GP. And for more advice, why not listen back to Dr Shaw’s interview on BBC Radio Merseyside on BBC Sounds? Her interview takes place about 1 hour and 22 minutes into the programme. The link to listen is in the comments.

Day 7 of our 30 days of impact to celebrate our 30th Anniversary is about the long-term vision for cancer care. 💚 Clinical trials are the bridge between a laboratory discovery and a life-saving treatment. They give our patients early access to new drugs and immunotherapies that simply aren't available elsewhere. For many, these trials are a vital lifeline. By supporting Clatterbridge Cancer Charity, you are helping to fund: 🔬 Ground-breaking trials into cancer vaccines and immunotherapy. 🥼 Dedicated Clinical Fellows who work alongside consultants to manage this research. 🏥 The advanced infrastructure needed to run a world-class research facility right here in our region. To ensure we can continue to push boundaries and provide hope for generations to come, we need sustained support. Setting up a monthly direct debit is one of the most powerful ways you can help. A regular gift of just £4 a month allows us to plan for the future, knowing the funds will be there to start the next pioneering trial that could change everything for a patient in the future. #ClatterbridgeCancerCharity #30DaysOfImpact #ClinicalTrials
