Last year, through Land Transfer Navigators, CCALT connected with approximately 100 landowners from across the state through one-on-one interactions, presentations and workshops. The Volks are just one of the many families working to get a succession plan in place. Over 12 million acres of Colorado ag land will change hands in the next 20 years. Dan Skeeters and CCALT are working hard to keep working lands in working hands and to help ensure these family legacies land and Colorado’s agricultural heritage will continue to live on. To support CCALT and our work in succession planning, ensuring we can continue to carry forward the legacy and local livelihoods of the next 150,000 acres and beyond, please consider donating to the Forever Colorado Spring Appeal at the link in our bio. #Colorado150 #ForeverColorado #OneMillionAcreMilestone

Colorado turns 150 this year and the Volk Ranch has been here nearly just as long. Founded in 1911, third generation rancher Gary Volk and his wife, Gail, spent years running cattle and stewarding the land, honoring the legacies and livelihoods of those that came before them. “To know that we have preserved the dreams, hard work and untold sacrifice of the generations before us is very special to us and we thank all that have made it possible,” said the Volks on their decision to put the ranch into a conservation easement with CCALT. That’s exactly what the Land Transfer Navigators program is about - preserving family and agricultural legacies that span generations and nearly Colorado’s entire history. To play your part in carrying legacies forward for the next 150 years, please consider donating to CCALT’s Forever Colorado Spring Appeal at the link in our bio #Colorado150 #ForeverColorado #OneMillionAcreMilestone

The Green’s commitment to the land ensures that agriculture in Routt County lives on while preserving the region’s important history. The original homesteads at Crags Ranch remain on the land thanks to the preservation efforts of Judy, Jerry, and many helping hands along the way. Families like the Greens are the heart of Colorado’s first 150 years. This year, and every year, as Colorado celebrates its 150th year of statehood, we honor and thank families like the Greens. Without their stewardship, Colorado’s first 150 years would not be defined by such rich history, deep love for the land, and thriving agriculture and rural economies. To play your part in supporting working lands conservation, please consider donating to CCALT’s Forever Spring Appeal at the link in our bio. #colorado150 #forevercolorado #onemillionacremilestone

We are proud to partner with the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and landowner Mark Doehling to conserve 912 acres of Doehling Ranch, located in Moffat County. Originally purchased by the Doehling Family in 1987, the property provides a wealth of agricultural resource value, natural habitat, and scenic open space. CCALT and the community at large extends its appreciation to the Doehling Family for their vision and generosity in placing Doehling Ranch under easement. By doing so, they have ensured this meaningful landscape will permanently remain intact and available for agricultural use, wildlife habitat, and scenic value. CCALT is also grateful to CPW’s Oil & Gas Compensatory Mitigation Grant Program and AES for their additional transaction cost assistance. The land is home to stories. It’s the old milk can on the front porch that was once shipped back and forth from Denver. It’s the echoes of ancient pictographs painted on the crag. It’s the habitat for sandhill cranes, bears, and bald eagles. It’s the cherished memories and history of families who have called it home. As Colorado celebrates its 150th birthday in 2026, we celebrate the families, like the Greens, who love the land, and who’ve helped Colorado and CCALT reach amazing milestones. It is because of these families that we are within reach of the One Million Acre threshold. Please consider donating to CCALT’s Forever Colorado Spring Appeal to help us reach One Million Acres of conserved working lands and beyond. /donate/ #Colorado150 #ForeverColorado #OneMillionAcreMilestone
