The Elmitek Program is an in-community, one-year, for-credit program designed for Mi’kmaq students who wish to further their education by attending university.
Upon completion, students are prepared to continue full-time studies on campus in the Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Arts Community Studies degree, equipped with the tools, relationships, and confidence needed to succeed at CBU and beyond.

Yesterday marked a historic moment for Cape Breton University and for the future of healthcare in Nova Scotia as we officially celebrated the grand opening of the Cape Breton Medical Campus in partnership with Dalhousie University’s Faculty of Medicine.
This state-of-the-art facility represents far more than a new building on our campus. It is the realization of a bold vision that will help educate and train future physicians who will go on to serve communities across Nova Scotia, including rural, remote and Indigenous communities where access to healthcare is critically important.
