@brooklynrail Brock Enright’s exhibition I AM SO PRETTY, put together by the nomadic gallery Club Rhubarb, functions as a survey of the artist’s practice since the early 2000s. “Throughout the rooms, stairwells, and hallways, we are able to see Enright at a distance, an artist who has worked through the periods of relational aesthetics and neo-Dada while negotiating the strange affinities that have always existed between the perceived rationality of modern art and the inexplicable impulses of mysticism,” Andrew Woolbright (@andrewwoolbright ) writes in our ArtSeen section.
“Enright’s survey is honest with the creative power of artists: that what comes out of the cave is not always towards community and new worlds, but can also be a wild and destructive force,” Woolbright notes. “It is a reminder that when we deny the existence of this shadow and attempt to repress it, we can create the societal psychosis we are currently experiencing.”

At times controversial and often misunderstood, Brock Enright @cbe1888 has spent decades building his own visual language and phantasmagorical universe.
I recently photographed Brock inside his sprawling installation I Am So Pretty at @clubrhubarb on the Bowery. Thoughtfully curated by @ronlittles the exhibition steps outside the traditional gallery format and into a two-floor Bowery apartment transformed into the inside of Brock’s mind: part archive, part studio, part autobiography.
I wanted to capture Brock in his element as ringmaster pointing things out and moving through the space as both architect and inhabitant of his wild world.
I Am So Pretty is on view by appointment at @clubrhubarb through May 16, 2026.
