Being in community with fellow writers against the dark times
Thrilled to have a poem in the latest issue of @poetrynw . This poem I have to say is from a few years back when I went on a lot of Hinge dates and it received no love whatsoever whenever I submitted it although sometimes other poems in a batch got nice mentions, and I thought okay, I get it, maybe people don’t know what to do with a 🍆 poem 😂. But when @keetjekuipers reached out for @poetrynw and when I read her work, it I knew that it had found it’s right home - Keetje’s poems strike me with their sensuality, emotional clarity, and the recurring love of bodies and oceans. Here is one of my favorites in her new collection Lonely Women Make Good Lovers. Many thanks to her and the editors at @poetrynw for giving this poem a home. And I’m so happy to be among wonderful friends and poetry loves including Lyn Li Che, @teleotobi@elektricityskape@megg_bean and @nicole.w.lee . Order and check out the rest of the amazing Winter/Spring 2026 issue at link in bio 💖🦪🌊
My crab eating poem about a rapturous first time in Seattle eating Dungeness crab a few years back, in @blreview ‘s beautiful Animalia themed Issue 49 / Thank you to the editors @danielle_ofri@dwycheng and Stacy Bodziak for including my poem and for organizing a delightful reading. I couldn’t have images a more fitting place for this bb 💞Link to issue in bio / Swipe to the end for the unedited pic of the Dungeness crab in its full glory. And 🙏🏼🙏🏼 to @fryespice for shepherding me along the journey at @taylorshellfish 🦀🦪🐙

reading poems about my family to my family in the city that was both their setting & inspiration in a bookstore where my grandmother read many times was a rite of passage, an initiation. thank you to Tom & @octaviabooks for being generous hosts in their expansive, transportive space. thank you to @catwei1 for being such a brilliant, stunning co-reader. thank you to the homie @pudgemental for blessing us with perfect tunes at the perfect time all evening. thank you to everyone who showed up—such a rapt, attentive, engaged, fun audience. there’s a handful of signed copies of before & after our bodies still left at Octavia🪽
