Nearly finished with my first image of my new body of work. In it I’m decorating recent self portraits with the emulsion of my childhood photographs. The idea (which is still in its infancy and evolutionary stages) is to celebrate the painful experiences of my childhood and express gratitude for the gift of wisdom and empathy they have given me.
My pain has become my most valuable asset. I am so grateful for who it has made me to be.

I met Milagros when she attended one of my portrait classes through @capitalphotographycenter
Ever since, we have kept in touch and she has graced my lens with her elegance and beauty. She is a beautiful Marinera dancer as well as ballerina. Her costume takes hours to prepare. She is a delight and it’s such a privilege to know her.
The Marinera dance is one in which the dancer holds a handkerchief which symbolizes a partner of sorts. The kerchief takes on a variety of shapes which can be interpreted through the viewer’s perspective. It’s beautiful! More pics to come!
