“Welcome, happy morning!” age to age shall say.
Thankful to join in this refrain with our church family this morning!
The Lord is risen indeed — Alleluia!
Looking back at our wonderful Christmas services on this Twelfth Day of Christmas! We are grateful for our church family, to be united in Christ, and pray for a blessed year for you and your family.
Merry Christmas from the Advent!
——
“And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”
Luke 2:10-11
We’re thrilled to introduce two new hires in the Advent’s Youth Ministry.
Jake Parks is a soon-to-be graduate of Beeson Divinity School. Originally from Enterprise, Alabama, Jake is a graduate of the University of Alabama and brings more than a decade of youth ministry experience, having served churches in Tuscaloosa, Birmingham, San Diego, and Washington, D.C. He and his wife, Emma, have a son, Zane, and are expecting a daughter early this fall. Jake will serve alongside Margot Cooney as our Directors of Youth Ministry.
Caroline Bass is also a recent graduate of Beeson Divinity School and is from Birmingham. After graduating from Samford, she served in the youth ministry of a local church and on mission teams in the Middle East, reflecting her passion for sharing the gospel in cross-cultural contexts. Caroline will be our Associate Director of Youth Ministry. We are grateful for John Mark Haase’s continued service as our Boy’s Youth Associate.
This morning, we had the joy of welcoming a new class of confirmands into our church family, our 6th grade confirmands at the 9:00 service and our adult confirmands at the 11:00 service.
Thank you, Bishop Curry, for joining us on such a special day, and thank you to the clergy, staff, and volunteers who faithfully helped prepare our youth and adults for confirmation and membership. To our new confirmands, we are delighted to welcome you fully into the life of Advent!
Please join us in prayers of thanksgiving for Dean Smalley as he begins a sabbatical from May 1 - August 1. We give thanks for his faithful leadership and the many ways he has served our parish, and we pray this season would be one of renewal and encouragement.
Please join us in prayers of thanksgiving for our group of Adventers returning from their pilgrimage to Turkey and Greece. Their journey concluded in Corinth and Athens, walking in the footsteps of Paul and tracing the story of the early church.
