@carelparis is a Parisian maison founded in 1952 by Rosa & Gabriel Carel, a shoemaking couple who imagined an alternative to the towering stilettos of the time β refined heels, designed with both elegance and comfort in mind.
Over seventy years later, the brand continues to craft its story, one step at a time β staying true to its heritage while adapting to the changing ways we discover, experience, and shop.
In 2024, I had the pleasure of working on the redesign of their e-commerce platform β an opportunity to help align their online presence with the unique character and quality of their creations, all handmade in France and Europe.
With
@cath.u , a former classmate, a dear friend and longtime collaborator <3, we not only handled the UX/UI design of the new e-commerce platform, but also reworked the product imagery to better integrate with the siteβs visual environment. We defined a renewed art direction for the e-shop β refining the way products are photographed to enhance their perceived value, ensure consistency, and bring a more premium, coherent feel to the overall experience.
We also took the opportunity to subtly revisit the brandβs typographic language β introducing Garamond, a nod to French typographic heritage, alongside GT Walsheim by
@grillitype , striking a new balance between classic elegance and contemporary clarity.
Grateful for the trust of this family-run business and for the collaboration with
@symediane_paris . π
