The FIRST (fake) ANIME of 2026. "Hokkyokuguma no sei de koi ga pinchi" aka. "My Love Life is in Trouble because of the Polar Bear". 🐻‍❄️💔 (Show synopsis on slide 2 😉) It seems a little strange that the first announced anime for Chewigiri would be a slice-of-life absurdist romantic comedy, but apparently the manga on which it is based is a personal favorite of one of the executives daughters. I mean, a shonen or isekai would have probably been a better choice, but hey, I'm not the one running a multi-thousand dollar anime streaming service. 😅. ------ Now for the IRL BTS talk. I thought what better way to start my Chewigiri project than by revisiting the VERY FIRST fake show/concept I ever did (which I put on the last slide). As you can see the original had a slightly different title, and the style was my other more "western animation" look. I made the changes to the title to give it a more "anime feel" (i don't think divorce is as big of a thing as it is in western stories and culture) and I think I like it much better. I am so happy with how the bear looks, as well as how much more anime-y the characters look compared to my other posters. I have been practising the anime style alot over the last year and I think its paid off. Overall I think this is my favourite poster that I've made so far. This was a blast to create!!!! Another Entry to #facfall2024 Fake Anime Collab: "Gatan Gatan! Isekai Scramble". 🚛💨💥 Seemingly average nobodies in our world have the potential to be heroes with amazing powers in others. It is the duty of the Isekai Bureau of Transportation (IBT) to locate and send those people to worlds where they are needed. 17 year old Kumi Matsuda works in the RMD (Random Mugger Division), sending heroes on their Isekai path by violently assaulting them in alleys. But one day, her good friend, Oda, is mistakenly flagged for transportation and struck down by a truck driven by Bang Narukami, a disgraced Isekai hero brought back to this world to serve out a sentence with the IBT for abandoning his isekai hero duties. Before Oda can fully transition to another world, Kumi grabs his spirit and forcefully crams it back into his body. Unfortunately, this rips open a hole in the fabric of reality, and now, beings from other worlds, both hero and villain alike, start pouring into our world. Now it's up to Kumi, Bang, and Oda, to send all the otherworlders back to their own worlds, by running them down with Bang's Truck. Joining them are 2 other disgraced heroes: Jamu-Jamu, (who was reincarnated as a swamp witch but decided to just chase after men rather than unite her world in peace) and Black (who became the demon lord rather than the hero in her world). - This piece was an absolute BLAST to create. I really wanted to make something weird and energetic. The original idea was just a play on the Truck-kun meme about an isekai truck driver, but I thought the premise needed a massive kick in the butt. Overall I had so much fun coming up with this and making it. Its making me consider changing my art to just be this kind of stuff. Lol also no idea why this made me think of that old song "Jumpstart"... Also, I added a bunch of stickers to the truck that reference some popular Isekai anime. There's 9 in total. WHAT IF...Sisu was the dragon Mulan's ancestors sent after her? Part one: First meeting... "Mulan, are you CRAZY?" In this reality, the disgraced guardian trying to prove themself and regain their status among the Fa family's ancestors is the water dragon, Sisu. Rather than destroying the statue of the Great Stone Dragon, Sisu manages to convince him to let her go in his stead. When Sisu finally finds her, Mulan is in awe and quite frightened. But as Sisu pleads for her to return, she realises what a goofball the dragon really is. Maybe she can be convinced to let Mulan go.... I'm really happy with how this one turned out. This is based on a piece of "Raya and the Last Dragon" concept art, but with tweaks to the pose and updating the Sisu's design to better reflect her final look. Mulan herself though was tricky to get right as I really wanted to draw her on model but didnt really use a reference for the pose, just the look and costume. I also added Cri-Kee on her shoulder, but don't zoom in, he doesn't look great lol. I still have many more ideas for this story and hopefully can do more of this in the future. And in case you were wondering, I still have more Tarzan × Lion King images in the ol' idea bank that I want to do as well. "Fishball, that guy jumped in the river! Go save him!" 👻😈❤️❤️❤️ More fanart of "Curious Tales of A Temple". I really love the relationship between these two. It's so cute and wholesome, if a little dark at the same time. For anyone who doesn't know, these two come from the final (and best) segment from the aforementioned movie. Lu Ying (the girl) met an untimely end and became a ghost, and Zhang Yudan (aka Fishball) is a scholar who became enamoured with her befoee she died after she saved him from a wild boar. Now he's trying to help her cross over by saving people's lives. It's amazing how much emotion they could pack into a self contained 20ish minute story. I still am thinking about it after seeing it weeks ago... Loved making this. Mermay Day 9 #MyLittleMerpony - Pinkie Pie 💖💖💖 This design is based on my favorite statue on my figure shelf, the Kotobukiya Bishoujo Pinkie Pie, originally designed by Shunya Yamashita, who is also one of my favorite illustrators in general. 🌟 Here's my attempt to draw Donald Duck, Encore² version in my style...🎙🎵🌟 (I'm obsessed with this design tbh) I found a big stash of anime style disney character merch while in Shanghai a couple weeks ago. While the official Disney store had ones by Mika Pikazo, a random otaku store in one of the Wujiaochang buildings had these other Mickey and Friends designs, which I understand to be going under the name 'Encore²'. These included the main disney crew ie. Mickey Donald Goofy etc but also some Zootopia characters as well. The annoying part is I cannot for the life of me find any trace of this collection online. Perhaps it's a China exclusive? If anyone has any details shoot them my way 🙏🙏🙏 Anyway I'm super happy with this. This is the first male character I've drawn that I actually think looks genuinely good, and its also my personal fave, Donald, so Im extra pleased. "I'm a ghost! Aren't you afraid of me?" 👿👻 From the "Miss Lu" segment from my new current obsession, "Curious Tales of a Temple". 💚❤️💚❤️ If you didn't see in my stories, on the plane homebfrom Shanghai last week I watched this anthology movie and was blown away. TLDR, it was such a beautifully animated, emotional, funny, and refreshing film that it has fast become probably my favourite animated film in the last year that I've watched. This particular segment, which was the final one, was by far my favorite, and really made me think of classic disney fairytale movies. Honestly if they made any one of these a full length movie I would watch every one of them. So imagine my surprise when I found it on Apple TV, and after purchasing a digital copy discovered they CUT OUT 2 WHOLE SEGMENTS from the film. And I feel that really ruins the emotional journey of the whole experience, but I can really see some exec thinking "This is too long for western audiences, and they'll think the first two stories are too childish, lets cut them out and get to the mature stories", failing to realise that they all make up a whole. Anyway I promised myself I wouldnt rant.... Do not watch the Apple TV cut if you can, and also do not watch the full dubbed version on YouTube if you can avoid it. Bilibili.tv has a full subbed version, and I would reccommend that if you can't find a full uncut sub anywhere yourself. Anyhoo, I originally wanted to do a 3 screen shot for my main post but I didnt set the canvas size right, so theyre a little cropped. I added individual slides for each full image, and the final one is another idea where I included dialoge subs. This scene is so cute where the main guy and Miss Lu first reunite near the beginning of the story. The whole tale is so cute and funny and sad and emotional.
