The often invisible side of design and consumption. @tmsophie often says it visiting a waste disposal site should be compulsory for all designers. So it was brilliant to join a visit to the @biffa_uk recycling plant in Edmonton as part of the Skills for Planet Circularity programme she has instigated with @designcouncil@urgecollective and the Chartered Institute of Waste Management. Seeing, smelling and hearing the monumental efforts required to turn our waste that we throw into the bin back into something of value was impressive, and the tech and labour that supports it. So cool to see @greyparrotai in action too! This is immersive and action learning.
Day 1 of Anthropy, with speakers covering everything from how we talk about migrating plants and people as displaced kin, to designing community-led visions over the long course of the development process, to AI that creates connections rather than replaces them.
Heading up to #labourpartyconference with our 5 key policy asks, designed to stand out and embody green design. Made with offcuts of 100% recycled material. Designed by @alexiesommer & @lauraboast and printed by @mull.club
And day 2 of mainstage World Design Congress where again incredible designers took us on a journey from extractive to regenerative, centering people and nature together, and imagining not a single hero future but many everyday and plural ones.
Incredible day 1 mainstage at World Design Congress with designers showing how they are creating products and services that are catalysing new economies, as well as the need to use design strategically to fundamentally redesign how our economy and government works. Design that can transform businesses and cities. Design that centres justice and how creativity can bring people together to navigate anxiety through crises.
