A quick edit of my view of the CF 104 way World Record build and completion. The emotions of watching it finally come together were unreal.

I had a very mild malfunction while videoing a practice jump at the CF World Record. The "brake fire" caused my steering toggle to wrap around my risers and even go between some lines.
I was able to avoid a cutaway AND still video the jump by prioritizing:
1. Get back on heading / my line of flight and ensure I wasn't in front of the formation or on a collision course with anyone else
2. Knowing I had altitude to deal it
3. Establishing if my canopy was flyable / controllable? answer was yes
4. Seeing if I was able to still video my jump? answer was also yes, albeit slightly off
5. Back to altitude as we near break off of the jump (we were about 5500 ft)
6. GET SOMEONE'S ATTENTION and communicate my problem - I was able to wave someone over, explain i had a mal (by yelling) and asked for them to top dock me
7. They worked on flying us up wind while that enabled me to use both hands to work the problem.
For my non-skydiving / non-CF friends, the top canopy has pretty much full control in a stack dock like this otherwise I would have been in a hard turn right without holding the input to my left brake.
8. I was able to fix the issue, communicate that up, they dropped me to have a safe landing
Great teamwork all the way around. I love my CF family!
