Our main goal at Cast Hope is creating shared spaces for kids and mentors to bond in the outdoors via fly fishing. Yes, we love watching kids catch fish, but what is the most rewarding is watching families come together and connect over shared experiences. We are truly blessed to create these sweet moments for those that participate in Cast Hope.
Is there a better way to celebrate your 14th birthday than hanging out with your dad, fly fishing for grayling on Rodgers Lake, and hanging out with Cast Hope guide @seancannon_mt We don’t think so!! What a great Float’n Fly Tournament this year on Lake Oroville! Not your typical spring weather but our guides and anglers made it happen putting some serious weights on the board. Congratulations to Aaron Grabiel @harvestwild_hw and his anglers Alex and Koulton. This tournament will provide essential fly fishing gear, including rods reels flies and tackle for 60 kids in our north valley region this year along with helping fund our summer clinics. Thank you to all the guides and participants for their support!
Cast Hope was proud to again support this year’s Annual Tribal Fishing Clinic hosted by Marvin Racine, helping welcome over 120 attendees for a day on the water. In partnership with Marvin and 15 Cast Hope volunteers, we donated 30 Redington rod-and-reel outfits along with flies, leaders, tippet, and indicators to ensure every child had the gear they needed to succeed. We also sponsored breakfast and lunch for all attendees, creating a full-day experience centered around learning, community, and time outside. The highlight of the event was seeing several young tribal anglers land their very first fish on a fly rod—moments that truly capture what Cast Hope is all about.
Thanks to everyone who came out to the @casthope@flyfilmfest last night @blackstarmontana in Whitefish, MT. We had a packed house and a great time watching epic fishing films, eating good food, drinking beers, and raising money for kids to go fly fishing in the Flathead Valley. We look forward to doing it again next year!!

-Establish emotional investment by introducing your volunteers to the oldest @pyramid_lake Elder. Reynelda James (93) who opened our event by pointing out the mountains in the distance where she grew up and her ancestors lived. She blessed our gathering with water from #pyramidlake which she explained is sacred.
We wanted our peers to meet an indigenous Elder, especially since our Tlingit Grandma Elaine had passed and our Navajo Grandma Ursula lives so very faraway on the Navajo Reservation. The introduction was intentional because we wanted volunteers who live at the headwaters of our watershed to think about Auntie Reynelda who lives in the terminal end. On March 9, we invited Marvin Racine to talk to our volunteers about making an offering to the lake before fishing. In Navajo tradition, boys offer turquoise and girls offer white shell to a mountain, river, forest before recreating on it.

Spring days in Northern California on the Lake are about as good as it gets for our kids and mentors. Many of our large reservoirs are only a few miles from a few of our large population centers but for our kids they might as well be another planet. Great place to clear their heads, re focus, and spend quality time with quality people helping navigate the ups and downs of life. Thank you to all our donors that see the value in this and what the outdoors can bring to young peoples lives.

When- March 21, arrival at 6am for introductions, 630am will be go time!
What to bring - Tribal fishing license, waders, and normal fishing gear.
Food- Light breakfast snacks will be available and lunch is included!
Cast Hope will be providing @redingtongear rods, @rioproducts flies, leaders, tippet, and @orosfishing indicators to 30 tribal youth!!🙌🙌
