Netflix Is a Joke Fest has taken over Los Angeles this week, bringing nearly 500 shows and more than 500 artists across comedy clubs, theaters, concert halls, and stadiums throughout the city.
Beyond the ticketed events, Netflix partnered with 78 neighborhood shows, opening free performances to the public as part of an effort to spotlight and bolster LA’s local comedy scene. The shows range from bars and backyards to cafes and makeshift stages, giving comics more places to perform and fans more ways to experience the festival.
“The LA scene is unique because of its variety and its role as the ultimate launchpad for talent,” says Robbie Praw, Netflix’s Vice President of Stand-Up and Comedy Formats. “LA is the only place where the entire comedy community comes together in one cohesive home.”
The festival spans stand-up, improv, clown, music, and variety performances, reflecting the depth and diversity of LA comedy.
