Good afternoon Muttonistas! My next stop in San Francisco saw me head to the Mission district, somewhere I used to go for Burritos a lot given its Latin vibes and roots.
That was over 20 years ago , and the area seemed to be even more multicultural now.
Importantly there is a great Irish pub in the area, @casementsbar , where there was live music playing but also an exquisite beer garden at the back . The fish tacos were excellent, but most importantly so was the Guinness.
Finding a pint served on 82/18 gas (nitrogen/co2) was quite a find., no excessive bitterness here, a creamy balanced pint that was, on my US scale, an Absolute Creamer!
Casements is a most welcoming establishment and I’d like to thank @gillian_fitzgerald and all of her staff and crew at Casements given that when I was left wondering where to go after Man City’s shock exit in the round of 16 in the Club World Cup and put out a shout out to US cities and pubs, to get the pubs on board so that I could organise an extra vlogging trip in another City.
Gillian stepped up on behalf of San Francisco and got in touch quickly with other pubs and made the trip possible.

Big big thank you to @casementsbar for trusting me with their walls and having me back for another mural, this time of the legend himself-Roger Casement. Casement was an Irish-born poet, human rights pioneer, & queer martyr. In the 1890s, his revealing work as a diplomat exposed colonial atrocities against the indigenous peoples of the Congo, he went on to uncover human rights abuses in Peru.
These actions & experiences transformed the now world-famous diplomat, into a champion for Self-Determination and independence for all oppressed peoples. In turn, Casement began to focus his efforts on helping lead his own, the people of Ireland, in their fight for independence. The research portion for this mural was depressing, to say the least. The term “Crimes against Humanity” was coined in reference to Leopold II of Belgium’s horrific treatment and exploitation Congolese people. Scumbags aside, I hope to raise many a glass to the wonderful Roger Casement during Pride month and beyond, and hope to see you for a toast soon at San Francisco’s beloved @casementsbar

Excited to announce a new menu coming later this month at Casements. This menu is an ode to the late great @manchanmagan with imagery courtesy of the incredibly talented @antic_ham & the folks over at @redfoxpress.ireland . The theme centers around connection and bringing together landscape and language. Utilizing products you would find in the Irish landscape like dandelion, rhubarb, lemon balm, fennel, sea weed standing alongside the best of California produce and the tastebuds of an immigrant city. ⚪️ Ten Million pints of Guinness are sold around the world each day. Last month at Casements alone we poured over 4000 pints of the black stuff.
