i recently re-discovered these #35mm photos taken on the roof of the #wtc from my first trip to NYC ~2000/2001. my first official act of tourism was to visit the wtc observation deck bc i was drawn to the idea of scraping the sky. in hindsight, it’s kind of wild that people could just hang out on the wtc’s roof, meandering around the no frills walkway. today, this kind of experience seems rare, unless you’re an urban explorer. standing 110 floors above the street, breathing in the clouds was epic. but now, i think of this extreme verticality in a very different light, or darkness, where these striking views now feel haunting and treacherous
this bad-ass bird of prey posted up in my alley, then it swooped down for some rats or a cat, it’s wingspan was easily 5’! also i think it had red eyes!!
