Engagement is one of the secrets to fixing your dog's reactivity If your dog only sees you as the boring person at the end of the leash, you'll never beat, fix, or manage their reactivity. They'll always find other dogs, people, or squirrels more interesting than you. That's the real problem most owners ignore. Engagement means your dog sees you as the most fun, rewarding, and exciting thing in their world. Not the treats in your pocket. You. When that bond is built properly, your dog naturally checks in with you instead of locking onto every trigger you walk past. Here is what that looks like in real life. Another dog appears across the street... And instead of fixating, lunging, and embarrassing you in front of your neighbors, Your dog glances at you because they already know focusing on you pays better than barking at other dogs or strangers ever could. Engagement is a massive piece of the puzzle when it comes to fixing a dog's reactivity. Without it, no correction, tool, or technique will hold up when the world gets overstimulating. And this is exactly what Rosie's owner and I leveraged to fix her reactivity. (Rosie is the cute dog in the photo) If your dog ignores you the second something triggering walks by, DM me "ENGAGE" and I will show you how we can your dog's reactivity! PS- What usually triggers your reactive dog on walks? I'm curious to know so tell me down below ๐Ÿ‘‡ - Marc Windgassen No Drive... No Joy

Rosie couldn't walk past a dog without completely losing it. That's not her anymore. When she first came to my group class, she was extremely reactive to other dogs. On walks in her neighborhood, same story. She improved in my group classes... But her mom knew they needed more specialized attention, so they moved into 1-on-1 sessions with me. ๐—ง๐—ต๐—ฒ ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐˜€๐˜‚๐—น๐˜๐˜€: โœ… Recall has vastly improved in high-distraction environments โœ… Holds her obedience around other dogs, bicycles, kids, and noise โœ… Maintains composure and impulse control when she spots another dog โœ… Stays put instead of losing her mind She still notices other dogs. She'll look, she'll keep an eye on them. But she holds herself together, and that's the part that actually matters. Reactivity isn't fixed overnight. As much as people want it gone in a session or two, it doesn't work that way. Every dog is different, and in Rosie's case it took a few months of consistent work. That's okay, because the difference between where she started and where she is now is night and day. Big props to Rosie and her owners. I'm very proud of them They showed up every week, put in the practice between sessions, and did everything in their power to give her the structure she needed. That commitment is what makes training work. If your dog is reactive on walks and you're tired of managing it instead of fixing it, DM me "CALM" and let's talk about a real training plan for your dog to fix their reactivity for good. PS - I will be releasing a video soon of Rosie's much improved recall! She's such a cutie and a sweetheart ๐Ÿ˜Š PSS- How is your dog's recall in public? Let me know๐Ÿ‘‡ - Marc Windgassen No Drive...
