Happy International Women’s Day ✨
Thinking today about the extraordinary women Cary Grant shared the screen with — from Jean Arthurr, Rita Haworth, Lorraine Day and Katharine Hepburn, to Ann Sheridan, Sophia Loren, Doris Day, and Leslie Caron.
Grant may be remembered as one of Hollywood’s great leading men, but he was also lucky enough to work alongside some of the most formidable acting talent of his era.
What made those collaborations sing wasn’t just star power — it was Grant’s remarkably generous performance style. He knew how to listen, how to play the space between lines, and how to shape a scene so his co‑stars’ brilliance could shine through.
Today, celebrating the women who lit up those films — and the artistry that happens when great performers elevate one another.
Join us in Cary Grant’s hometown, Bristol this Fall to celebrate some of these amazing collaborations on the big screen. 27-29 November @bristolmegascreen

The Big Picture
(dir. Arthur Cauty, 2025)
Now available to stream on Kinema
The Big Picture uncovers the true story of a giant‑screen cinema quietly forgotten in the centre of Bristol. Built for the Millennium to showcase IMAX 70mm at its most spectacular, the building was abandoned for over a decade until a collective of cinephiles reclaimed it—transforming a lost relic into the beating heart of a grassroots cinema movement.
Our own festival director, Charlotte Crofts, along with many of Bristol’s independent cinema and film‑festival leaders, appears in the film, which celebrates the venue we’re proud to call home. Their voices help tell the story of how a dormant space became a thriving hub for community cinema, creativity and cultural activism.
You can stream The Big Picture exclusively on Kinema and pay what you want (from $4.99). Your support goes directly to the filmmakers and helps independent stories like this reach audiences who care about cinema’s past, present and future.

STROUD FILM FESTIVAL 2026
The Philadelphia Story
Friday 13 March 2026, 7:30pm
VENUE: Cotswold Playhouse, Parliament Street, Stroud, GL5 1LW
We’re excited to be taking part in Stroud Film Festival this year with a special screening of The Philadelphia Story. After being labelled “box office poison” in 1939, Katharine Hepburn famously bought the rights to the Broadway play she was starring in and steered it to the screen, transforming her career and securing the film the Best Picture Oscar in 1940. This sparkling “comedy of remarriage,” with Cary Grant and James Stewart completing the iconic trio, later inspired the musical remake High Society.
With its razor‑sharp script, George Cukor’s elegant direction and three leads at the height of their powers, the film remains as fresh, funny and sophisticated as ever. Our festival director, Charlotte Crofts (Professor of Cinema Arts at UWE Bristol), will introduce the screening with a short contextual talk.
We’re thrilled to be collaborating with Stroud Film Festival to bring this classic to new audiences—hope to see you there.£8 (£5 under 18)
