4ish years ago i met ezra, and it became clear really quickly that he’s a creative, empathetic, honest person. the more i got to know him, his family, and his story, the more i realized he has such an important voice.
ezra immigrated to the u.s. from ethiopia when he was 5, and he’s spent his life helping his family navigate this country while chasing his dream of making films. he wants to tell thoughtful, compassionate, and loving stories—especially because there’s still so little representation for people like him and his family in this industry.
right now, he’s fundraising for his student thesis film at csun, called @thebeatofoursouls — it tells the story of a disabled ethiopian couple navigating illness, marriage, and life in america.

happy birthday to the love of my life ❣️ what a year we had - from living with your parents + my 3 cats during the fires, making a weekly video podcast together, concerts, get together with friends, me starting a new job after being laid off, weddings, being terrified of what's to come, being excited for what's to come - all of the things together. and today you're on set for the Beat of Our Souls. What a way to spend the last birthday of your 20's - making art. I am so proud of Ezra. Ezra is creative, funny, hardworking, and he cares. He cares so much sometimes it hurts him but he would rather get hurt than not care. I love him more than anything.
