One of my favorite little life moments is when George and I are out alone with just the baby and a stranger says something like, “you’re doing great, new parents!” We grin so big and say "oh thank you, doing our best!!" I love the idea of us, seven years ago, out with our first baby, feeling as confident as we do with Tav. Walking into a restaurant without a single toy or even a diaper, because we know meh, we’ll figure it out. When the truth is, seven years ago, I spent 45 minutes packing the perfect toys, the perfect snacks, 20 diapers, and two outfit changes, only to rush home for the perfect blackout curtain white noise nap because I was so terrified that one deviation in his nap routine would unravel everything. I wish fourth-time-mom calm and joy for every single new mom. So here’s a little list of ways to raise your first like it’s your fourth, if that sounds fun to read. If it doesn’t, literally scroll away and ignore all of this. You’re doing great!!! Also all of this is oversimplified and of course does not apply to every baby love uuu You do not need to entertain your baby. Cooking, going on walks, chatting, is enough. I'll never forget sheepishly asking my pediatrician what I was supposed to be doing educationally with the baby all day. I'm talking 6 weeks old. She was like "oh sweetie, nothing..." Don't look at your phone during middle of the night feeds!!!! Blue light will wake you up and make you anxious. Get an amber book light and read if you need entertainment. When in doubt, feed it. If that doesn't work, put it in the bath or strap it to your body and go for a walk. Don't accept the witching hour as fate! I carrier walked through it with my last three babies. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. If you see that the baby woke up on the monitor but they’re happily playing alone, don’t go in. Drink your coffee while it’s hot. If you get to the restaurant and they’re content in the stroller staring off into space, leave them. Enjoy your glass of wine. Resist the urge to swoop in and “engage" all the time. Add yours!!! I have about a million others. Obviously mine only apply to babies I need older kid wisdom!! 📸 @breanajanayphotography

Springy green goddess orzo chop with @earthboundfarm ! The original @EarthboundFarmstand is just down the road from our house and is just the happiest wonderland. Earthbound greens are the crispest most perfect greens ever, and this springy green goddess orzo chop is the perfect showcase for just how fresh and beautiful they are. This green goddess dressing is so insanely good!! 1 cup dry orzo 1 (8 oz) container Earthbound Farm Super Greens with Wild Red Arugula, chopped 1 cup Earthbound Farm Snap Peas, thinly sliced on a diagonal 1/2 English cucumber, chopped 3 scallions, thinly sliced 1 large avocado, diced 4-6 oz crumbled feta 1 packed cup fresh parsley 1/2 packed cup fresh dill 1/4 cup chopped chives 1/2 cup Greek yogurt 1 small garlic clove Juice of 2 lemons, divided 3 tbsp EVOO, plus more for tossing 1 tbsp Dijon 1 tsp Worcestershire 1 tsp honey 1/2 tsp kosher salt Blend parsley, dill, chives, Greek yogurt, garlic, juice of 1 lemon, EVOO, Dijon, Worcestershire, honey, and salt until smooth and creamy with little green flecks throughout. Add a splash of water if needed to reach a drizzleable consistency. Set aside. Cook orzo in heavily salted boiling water per package directions. Drain and toss immediately with a drizzle of EVOO, juice of the second lemon, and a big pinch of salt. Let cool for a few minutes. Add Earthbound Farm Super Greens to a large serving bowl along with the snap peas, cucumber, and scallions. Season with a big pinch of salt and toss to combine. Add the cooled orzo, diced avocado, and crumbled feta. Dress with as much green goddess as your heart desires and toss to coat. #EarthboundFarmPartner #EarthboundFarm

THANK YOU, TEACHERS!!! this morning I watched my five year old write his teacher's names and the entire family broke out into a chant "Calum is a writer! Calum is a writer!" because we had... no idea he knew how to write. I love being a baby mom and overseeing every learning and milestone. But a kid coming home from their amazing teachers and showing off a whole new skill that they learned without you? INCREDIBLE. thank you, teachers! We are forever indebted. tell us your favorite thing that one of your kids teachers has done that you will always remember!!!
