Carlos Mario

This student campaign came from questioning how Shazam actually works. As self-proclaimed music nerds who use Shazam frequently, Carlos Mario Rodriguez and Regina Gutierrez imagined the music identification process as a cast of characters working behind the scenes – each one representing a different genre, taste, and instinct coming together to find the song. The film was created as a thesis project at Art Center College of Design and shot on the school’s soundstage in just three days, with friends and professors stepping in as actors. Carlos and Regina both are excited to begin their professional careers in 2026, and are actively looking at agencies.
