Went into the toy shop this weekend to buy birthday bits for the little one… Couple hours deep in a warzone of: ❄️ Elsa 🦄 Unicorns 🎀 Pink plastic things that apparently cost £37 …when suddenly, like a beacon from the heavens, I spotted these sat on the shelf 😭 NFL UNO ELITE. With BOOSTER PACKS. Because apparently even UNO has parallels now. Honestly the hobby has completely broken my brain because I physically cannot enter a shop anymore without scanning shelves like a raccoon looking for shiny objects. Food shop? Packs. Petrol station? Packs. Toy shop during a family birthday run? Believe it or not… packs. Was in a stream the other night and bought a low numbered (WR) card… one card 😂 A bloke in the chat was claiming to be “the biggest collector in the UK” of that player so naturally I replied: “Unlucky mate… that purchase probably makes you second now 🤝” Very obviously taking the piss. Response I got? “Yeah you stick to your base cards and inserts and I’ll stick to my 1/1s and case hits.” And honestly… it proper reminded me how weird parts of this hobby have become 😭 Some people are so obsessed with rarity, flexing and value that they’ve forgotten cards can just… look good. A clean base card still hits. A filthy insert still hits. And not everyone’s trying to build the bloody Louvre of sports cards… 😂 Truth is, some of my favourite cards I own are low-end bits of cardboard that just look unreal. Not everything needs to be: ❌ 1/1 ❌ Gold Vinyl ❌ “Pop 1 bro” Sometimes shiny cardboard is just shiny cardboard. And honestly? Mega box quick rip and honestly… I’m still trying to work out what Topps were cooking here 🤨 Couple shiny bits in there: ✨ Dillon Gabriel lime green X-Fractor ✨ Cam Skattebo Fortune15 ✨ CeeDee Lamb Fortune15 X-Fractor Now I can’t lie… the Fortune15 inserts are HARD. Proper weird casino fever dream vibes and I’m absolutely here for it 🎰 But outside of that? This product feels very “we had a deadline lads” 😭 Far too much filler, not enough wow factor, and Allen Lazard turning up in X-Fractor form was enough to send a card straight to the burn pile without review 🗑️🔥 Overall verdict: Some nice shiny cardboard… but as a full product? Bit tame. Bit safe. Bit “we didn’t really try.” Still ripped it though. Obviously.
