After hitting our original goal in record time, we have set a new stretch goal of $7500. These extra funds will increase our film festival budget and allow us to create a dedicated website for Car Brain. Again we can’t thank you enough for your interest in our scrappy film. 🚗🧠Hello Philadelphia, hello world! We are in the home stretch of post-production on Car Brain, our feature documentary about the existential nature of parking and the conflict around cars in Philadelphia.
Today we are launching a crowdfunding campaign on @seedandspark to raise money for our talented post production team and distribution/marketing costs. Our goal is raise $5000 in 30 days. We have a few tiers of juicy incentives, like early access to the finished film. At the highest tier you can even own the camera we shot the film on (and partially broke)!

Only one week since we launched this campaign and we just passed 6k!!! Thank you so much for your support. If we hit $7500, I will drop the Car Brain trailer…
Wowwww…this is totally insane! We had no idea we would reach our fundraising goal in less than 48 hours. Thank you so much! We still have over 3 weeks left on the campaign so we will aim for our next stretch goal of $7500. Your continued donations will help compensate those who worked on the film as well as increase our film festival budget so we can get the film out to more people. 📹PRODUCTION UPDATE📹
Hey all, just wanted to give a quick update on Car Brain. We have been working on this film for a couple years now and are about to begin post-production! We’re not completely done filming but we already have ~15 hours of footage so it’s time to get cracking.
Also if you didn’t know, we are shooting the film entirely on mini DV tape. Our main workhorse (in the second slide) is the Sony PD170. It’s over 20 years old but still has great battery life, vivid colors, it’s very portable—perfect for a scrappy doc like ours. The first camera I ever owned was a mini dv camcorder so this project feels like a return for me.
Hopefully we’ll be able to share bits and pieces along the editing process. We are so excited to put this thing together.
