5 years ago today… Where on earth that time has disappeared to we will never understand. All we know is this day changed us. It changed us in a way we didn’t realise we even needed to. We were already living a life of not letting any moments pass us by, the front row seats to our children’s childhood… but this day reiterated WHY we live this way. Tomorrow is promised to no one and we so very nearly lost our tomorrow with Ben. These moments here were just before Ben boarded the emergency flight from Exmouth to Perth with the incredible team at @rfds_wa ❤️
The raw emotion of these photos still brings an instant lump to my throat. We were saying goodbye to him. both Ben and I terrified it was the last goodbye… the kids were distraught enough just thinking it was a goodbye for a few days. Hurts to even flash back to these days but it’s important to. He survived what a lot don’t and those that do are often left with lifelong challenges not just to themselves but to those around them. When the plane took off I was unaware of some of the big and heavy conversations Ben had had with the medical team. He didn’t want to worry me, in true Ben style, the most selfless man alive, he took it all on. That’s just the kinda man he is, the kinda Dad he is, the kinda friend he is, the kinda son he is, the kinda husband he is. Those who know him even if to not know him well, would see this a mile away. He’s just a great human and we are the luckiest family to have you! We love you! Forever ahead ❤️@rfds_wa@strokefdn
