Prometheus in Bounds
Description:
The work Prometheus in Bounds explores, from both a global and a locally situated perspective, various events in which democracy has fallen into crisis under the effects of authoritarian political systems, capitalist regimes, and colonial violence. Drawing from shared and personal concerns, we use graphic techniques-woodcut and digital printing-to produce intervened photographs in which traumatic and urgent events appear and are then modified through graphic motifs created by us.
All these pieces are assembled into a structure resembling a gallows that, at its central axis, holds a mirror with two reflective faces suspended by strips. The mirror is surrounded by metallic signs indicating the cardinal directions, so that the north, south, east, and west form a geographical space also conditioned by these delimitations.
The installation functions as a critical device that articulates the relationship among all the images and invites viewers to reflect on their narratives from an interconnected perspective, where tension and balance become determining elements for understanding the fragility of these stories.

Oil paint and natural dye (pomegranate, onion, bluewood extract), wood, metal
The series of works consist of self-dyed fabrics with batik and oil painting and take up the form of simple fans. These are removed from their usual context of institutional exhibitions and are intended as functional objects for outdoor spaces. The fans are usable.

Deceptively Green
“Do not be fooled, this is not a green exhibition”
Some greenwashers deliberately mislead us. They praise sustainability and green spaces and sell them to us as a moral good with a surcharge. But our excessive consumption of resources remains. There is no real change in behavior. This textile installation examines the supposedly green image that is presented as ecologically responsible and invites us to critically question this very image.

Exploring the Potential of Natural Dyes
In the textile industry, many fabrics undergo pretreatment with mordants, often composed of heavy metals such as cadmium, lead, chromium, and tin. These mordants enhance color adherence to fibers, ensuring longevity against sunlight, washing, and abrasion. However, their toxicity poses significant risks to human health, aquatic ecosystems, and the environment.
This project focuses on utilizing natural materials and safer alternatives, such as iron (II) sulfate and aluminum formate, for dyeing. These options are less harmful and, when applied correctly, they have little environmental impact while producing a wide spectrum of colors.
The hues achieved through this method differ from those generated by industrial dyes. While they may not retain their vibrancy as long under sunlight, they exhibit a distinctive fading process. Each dyeing experience yields varied outcomes, allowing for both uniform and intricate color patterns.
Natural dyes offer meaningful applications in the textile sector, from dyeing fabrics to creating finished garments.
