This month marks one year since my friend Nico was nearly killed in a targeted, violent, homophobic attack. Nico is truly the sweetest angel and I am always amazed at how wonderful, kind and positive he is. At the time of the attack he was studying agriculture and nursing to better the lives of others in his home of Puerto Rico. Though his most severe injuries have stabilized he still has limited movement of his right arm and struggles with severe and debilitating PTSD. Nico is facing long and difficult legal, physical and mental battles and he needs our support to continue this fight. It’s been one year since my beautiful friend Pedro was shot by a still-unknown stranger, thousands of miles from home. In this year he has shown incredible strength and resilience, but he still needs our help. The often cruel realities of this world are made much more difficult for those like Pedro who rely on electric wheelchairs and the help of others to navigate it. In particular, finding housing for Pedro in his chosen home of Los Angelas has proven especially complicated. As a result, he has yet to return home. We raised money last year to support Pedro with the help, equipment and transportation he needed, and now we’re doing another push to help him continue reclaiming his life and independence, and to bring him home. This is a camp robber. It is bold, mischievous, wise and is revered as an omen of good fortune and a warning of danger. It is known to approach humans for treats and to steal from unattended food stores. It is monogamous and will remain with its mate for life. There are a lot of things happening in the world that are a fucking heck of a lot more important than me & I usually don’t go in for social media hoopla... however... I took myself on a camping trip across the country. I made it to the fucking #grandcanyon. I never thought I had the type of strength to travel alone. Turns out I was totally wrong. It’s the most fun! @case_ofbase214 and @wandering_tattler for the company & confidence boosts & for being actual badasses w/ adventurous spirits who are really good at stuff.
