On December 15th, 2023 I graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in Entertainment and Media Studies, minoring in Fashion Merchandising and Theatre!
During these past three months, I’ve taken a lot of time to reflect and process my college experience.A lot of people see my bright personality and even brighter clothes, but were unaware of the struggles I was facing.My college experience has been a roller coaster, filled with amazing highs and unfathomable lows. I’ve been experiencing waves of anxiety and depression since junior year of high school, and it worsened as I went to college. As someone who has always had a “happy disposition,” I felt conflicted. How could I be so joyous and blessed yet so sad at the same time? In addition to the battles I faced mentally, one month after transferring to UGA, my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer (remision 2022). There I was, stuck in Athens at a new school with no community and just an overall sense of confusion. My mom is my biggest cheerleader,my superhero...my Wonder Woman. I don’t speak about that time in my life because I’m still healing from it.
As the semester progressed, I gained more responsibilities and soon felt less of a priority. My eating and sleeping habits suffered greatly. I oftentimes compared myself to my peers, and my perception of myself worsened. I spent many nights alone, crying in my room.
But it was creativity and the arts that saved my life on numerous occasions. While at KSU, I was a theater major and was surrounded by a vibrant and supportive community. UGA gave me the chance to explore my passions for fashion and filmmaking, something I longed to do. However, while in Athens, there were fewer opportunities for me to perform on stage, and I never truly found a community.
Since I was a child, I’ve always been a big dreamer, and I’m very thankful that that “bright-eyed sense of wonder” has never left me.College has shown me how resilient I am. Even in my darkest moments, I was able to achieve my dreams and realize that they can come true!

2 years ago this week I graduated from The University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Arts in Entertainment and Media Studies, minors in Theatre and Fashion Merchandising. These pictures are from my Oscars themed Graduation party! I am so thankful for my family and friends that have and still support me. Immediately after graduation I set my sights on acting grad school. Monologues, essays, flights, hotels and a relentless belief in myself lol. I did this for 2 years.
I never really sat in my accomplishment and just went on to the next thing. College was a doozy and I truly need to give myself more credit for what I accomplished. Being a first generation college graduate and doing so under some CRAZY circumstances. Postgrad has been very difficult to say the least and I’m learning to give myself grace and be thankful for all that I’ve already accomplished!
All in all, give yourself grace and while on your journey forward, take a moment to reflect on what you’ve already accomplished!🫂
