I donāt know why but this photo gives me a feeling of people waiting in line to find out their fate. It harks me back to a sound track that was played in the show Mr Robot, with a feeling of dystopia, with the system deciding your next steps. Iām not sure whether it is the red number counters, the stark lighting, the brutalist architecture, or a combination of them all, but it really culminates into a familiar but unnerving scene.
In reality, this was coat collection in the Sydney opera house following a tremendous classical recital by the Sydney symphony orchestra. Itās funny how a different angle and lack of context can drive a scene into something polar opposite. I like playing with the scene in my photo and hope this comes across to tell a mysterious but thankfully incorrect story.
