Last year I had the pleasure of capturing this humble and earthy human and her beautiful friends. I’ve known Jenni since school so it was magical to reconnect after so many years. We took a lovely trip to Sandy Hills just over the border and into Scotland and had a wonderful and refreshing day, we shot all day! So it’s day one of #marchmeetthemaker so he’s some a little insight to the girl behind the lens! Hey all, nice to meet ya! I’m Debbie! I think deep down I’ve always loved being creative and loved making people smile. My passion grew from being on the stage and in front of cameras to taking a step back to look through the lens! I dabbled and still love to create self portraits with my little page @captain_deb and this is fun when trying new techniques and ideas. It’s great to collaborate and create wonder through storytelling. I have always loved storytelling and you can be emotionally taken by reading, watching, listening, acting, thinking, smelling, memories, creating... sometimes when I look back at old images of some of the people that have transformed my life and the story that they have created within my life I feel all sorts! I remember feeling a certain feeling, being in a place, the memory will open other memory’s I had forgotten, sometimes I remember the silly laugh they always did or how they used to smell, weather that day, the things we used to wear or how they used to style their hair! Do you have images that speak to you on a million levels? I’m a small human with a camera on this giant planet and there’s a million memories out there passing us by! When I’m old and have made a million memories with the ones I love, in the best places (Travel Rocks!!) I want to be able to say that I’ve helped capture a million wild memories for other happy humans too! People in love with their life and the people in it! It’s good to relive the best of us and it’s proof that we had the time of our lives!! Memories live for generations so let’s treasure those exciting adventures to infinity and beyond!!!! Farewell 2020 you have been a tough one but when I look back it was a memorable one too! I’ve been to South Africa 🇿🇦 and visited my favourite place in the world The Isle of Skye. Met some wild Animals (came eye to eye with a wild elephant @bonfiresandmountaintops ) and met the most beautiful people! We have built more walls to our cosy little cottage and have already made some magical memories here! I’ve had the pleasure of meeting wonderful couples and captured love in memorable ways! There’s so much more I wish I could say I’ve done (I wish I could have seen my Mum this year) but sometimes life throws us curve balls and we gotta be grateful for what’s already here and what we have in our lives! I was reminded of this when visiting poor townships in Johannesburg. On that note I wanted to thank everyone for all the love and support this year. To everyone I have worked with I am super grateful and here’s to making the most of 2021! One brick a day and you never know what you can build.... For years I seem to always dream about houses that are never fully complete. I will be walking into a room that’s got a wall missing and I can see outside. Or the wallpaper will peel down the wall. I guess it has many interpretations but I like to think that it’s a reminder to lay a brick a day and finally you will build your wall! Or whatever your interpretation of a wall might be! It’s funny because we have had builders demolishing walls and windows for months and finally we are beginning to see the end in sight! Our little cottage looks pretty sweet! I’m so thankful that we have people that can help build things! Friendships that can build your inspiration and confidence, family that can remind you of the walls you had to break down to get to where you are and partners that hold the heavy bricks and help build dreams! Even strangers that don’t even know that they are they are quietly planting seeds in your garden! Shot with one of my Christmas decorations hehe!
