A little over a year ago I got invited by @trapxart to showcase my art with them for the Halloween event. I had just launched my art page for IG. I was a baby artist ! Since then I have done so many pop ups, shown my art in 2 galleries, took commission work, hosted a paint n sip, launched my website (link in bio 😋) been featured in a couple magazines, and made lots of sales. Definitely proud of myself and all the hard work I’ve put in. It’s not always easy, it actually never is. But it’s ALWAYS WORTH IT! I’ve made friends that I know will last a lifetime, learned the importance of networking, and gained a confidence in my work that was previously lacking. Thank you to everyone who has purchased from me, reposted my art, shown up to events, and extra thank you to the people who have seen my vision and included me in theirs. 💜💜💜 I’ve always been an artist. I’m true to this. I’m just real proud of myself today! Can’t wait to see what’s next 💜🥹

More of my take on postpartum bodies 🌹 Sorry not Sorry if this makes you feel uncomfortable. Giving birth was uncomfortable. Women’s bodies deserve to be celebrated— and not just when we’re being sexualized. This is kinda turning into a series of pieces that I’m working on. If you like it let me know! My page is currently getting around 3k views from the 🍒 post so yall are definitely seeing it! I’m here, painting when I can and sharing bits of my life when I feel like it. 🫶

Reposting bc the music got cut off . A lil progress video. I used the palette knife for a lot of this painting, specifically the leaves and the milk. I love all the texture. I’m super proud of this piece 🥲 🍒

The most procrastinated piece I’ve ever done is finally finished! 🥳 Self portraiture should be considered shadow work tbh because it is ROUGH. Like my eyes really sit like that? My skin has so much green in it? 😂 im being goofy, it really took me so long partly because life was crazy but also because I have never looked at myself that deeply. And honestly, I think it’s one of my best paintings. Let me know what you think :) ALSO I was totally that girl in middle school who drew eyes all over everything, so that last slide is 😚🤌🏽👩🏽‍🍳

It’s Indigenous Peoples Day! This video is discussing a topic that I don’t see brought up very often, and that is the anglicizing of old photographs or paintings. For many years native folk were forced to identify as White or Spanish. For them it was to avoid harm via harassment & racism. But for whites in power this was to contribute to the erasure of our people. These paintings are of my great great grandparents who were Native to New Mexico and lived on an Indian reservation there. I’m sure it was hard for them, making the choice to assimilate for survival. I don’t blame them. For me, over 100 years later, and disconnected from my culture, this discovery is both saddening and heartwarming. As an artist it baffles me. I can’t imagine purposefully changing someone’s features. This makes me want to focus more on portraits of brown people with strong features. I feel for all indigenous people and the struggles we’ve been through. But also I’m glad that the original photo wasn’t destroyed. I’m glad I live in a time where we can proudly reconcile with my culture and ancestry. 🫶 Happy Indigenous Peoples Day 🪶✨ #indigenous #indigenouspeoplesday #nativegenocide #nativeart #columbusdaymyass #indigenouspride #decolonize
