I’m writing my first book.
Based on true events, it’s a crime novel about bees, set in a part of regional Queensland that sits in the shadow of a place almost everyone has heard of, in a town almost no one has.
What started as a story about honey theft and murder has become something else entirely: a book about landscape, memory, the quiet ways people lose each other (& themselves), and what happens when the places we love hurt us.
Three drafts in, I remain equal parts inspired and convinced I have no idea what I’m doing.
Which, from what I gather, means I’m right on schedule.
It might be no surprise that our little family enjoys time at Baxter as much as our guests.
In anticipation of our expansion to a family of five, we took an opportunity to capture the moment in time with our big kids, courtesy of the talented @bridgetwoodphotography@therarafiles
The house is a gorgeous backdrop for this special time. You might even say it has some main character energy 😂
As a writer who doesn’t write, I’ve decided that no longer makes sense. So - I’ve started a substack (link in bio) where I’m going to start exploring the why and how and where to next, and maybe will help others too. Feel free to subscribe or just give me a nudge along the way. And Ty to @laurenjcapelin for always being the first. Cheers xo
BTS of our Season 3 Kruger episode. Travelling with this crew was epic, especially when in the surrounds of @kapamaprivategamereserve - cannot wait to share the episode! Yum, fun and sun!

So happy to wake up to news that “Field Trip with Curtis Stone” has been nominated for a James Beard award!
This was a week of light and shade, rain and sunlight, a sea of chillies… and some of the best natural cinematic light I have ever worked with… To everyone involved, a big congratulations and a special mention to @curtisstone for your curiosity, candor and inexhaustible work ethic and passion for your craft. Always a pleasure.
