Dedicated to my Poppa John Fittall.
Marathon - 02:12
50km ultra - 03:09
There’s only two runners in my family.
One ran for a living, now retired.
And the other one runs to stay alive.
This is all because he laughed at me when I first started running & I told him my first official times.
He said “I would’ve had enough time to go home shower up, have a cup of tea and still have enough time to see you in” I know he was joking haha but it still cut me deep🥲😂
But that’s all I needed to put him up on the top of my list lol I didn’t tell him anymore of my times. Just kept my head down and ran. It wasn’t until I started taking it serious he started to look up.
I just told him I’ve been stacking a shit load of ultras, all 60+ runs.
He asks why, I told him 42 doesn’t do anything for me. It’s just the kilometre after 41.
I told him my soul always calls out for that extra 8kms after a 42.. because to me once you hit 50, you’ve pushed the door wide open & now you’ve earned the right into the unknown.
That’s where I want to reside.
He went quiet for a bit & then called me crazy.
That silence he gave me told me everything I needed to know.
He respects that I’m about it.
And now a bit happier he’s finally got one of his kids to carry on his running legacy.
Where I’m from we call that the changing of the guard.
-
My first attempt ever at 42km was just under 7hours.
06:47:08 to be exact.
My second 42km attempt was just over 4hours.
04:07:55
This year was my third attempt.
Only this year was different, it’s the first year I trained to chase a specific goal time for anything over 21.
1 shovel & 2 holes dug.
My first sub4hr 42km & my first sub5hr 52km all in one hit. My proudest run by far!
-
Auckland marathon 2025.
New Zealand’s biggest running stage.
A new record of 17,000+ runners.
And still even on this day,
The Captain stood alone.
And The Comeback Kid carved his name deeper into the game.
-
Now I know where I stand amongst his 50k time.
I’m excited to try my best to write my name as close as possible to his before my time is up.
-
Never counted out.
Always counted on.
True to it, not new to it.
Welcome to the next level son.

Dates are set.

New levels call our name.
It doesn’t count if you don’t call your shot.
And if greatness doesn’t call your line in the near future.
I will.

L&D SWAT TEAM ROLL OUT 🪖
-
Shoutout to the L&D boys who came through to @fullcircle_hq to take part in a very hefty shift.
-
This WOD is always a tough ask.
Definitely not for the feint hearted.
But that’s why you do it.
Endure the suffering & remember those who have paid the price for our freedom.
Grateful!

Anyways highlight of the morning :
Coach @romeoahfook pauses the music & stops the WOD to tell us - “PUSH UPS ARE CHEST TO GROUND, NONE OF THIS SISSY SHIT!!” 👀😂
What he really wanted to say was - “DON’T BE A FKN BITCH, AINT NO HALF STEPS HALF REPS!!” 💀💀😂😂😂😂😂😂
We all just stopped & looked at each other wondering who hes talking about but he hasn’t said, or not to me anyways 😂
It had me thinking he was talking about me cause I’m the one who’s working out right next to him.
I Said fk it, if he’s talking about me I’ll give you 300 push ups.. The boys saw my tally on the ground & followed suit. We all get to the squats together, the boys go grab kettle bells & sandbags & punched out 350 squats 😵💫
It was awesome to see the boys take Romes words of integrity as a push & challenge themselves to do it better.
It was just what was needed & we all had a good laugh about it too 😂🙌🏽
Thanks for that coach!
-
Excited to get the boys into the gym more often for our next running block.
This year’s mara prep should be a fkn goodie.
-
Thank you FC!
Thank you to our service men & women!
And thank you for your time gentlemen!

Lest we forget 🌹🫡

Race day.
-
Cap and his 1st Lieutenant walk’em down!!!
-
Still blown away with the amount of fight this lil guy showed me.
He knew exactly how he wanted to play this.
Held the line.
Bite down on the mouth guard & slug it out down the home stretch.
Small in size,
Big in fight.
The rest is history.
He’s landed himself in new territory within his story.
His poppa Johns legacy still holds strong but there’s new blood on the horizon.
-
Eyes up.
Same foot,
Same shoulder.
Shoot with intent.
And even the giants fall my son.
-
Hell of a play kid!
I love you my boy,
Always proud of you xx
Tuesday 06/04/26
Back in action.
Body’s been in the garage for a few days.
What I thought would be an Easter weekend full of training turn sideways into a weekend full of sleep.
Body’s been shot.
10hr sleeps + naps & still couldn’t shake it.
Just drained.
Still adjusting to this new life.
The main thing that keeps me coming back is I’m the small fish again..
But even big fish get caught if they wanna find out.
Been off the road since the 85. I’m in no rush. I know it doesn’t take me long to fire it back up again anymore. I’ve run long enough to know what keeps me steady.
Don’t think you can ever master it though.
My 2 main running goals still remain on my bingo card this year.
But my side quest will be in these 4 walls.
Back to it
Sunday 29/03/26
Training schedule : 60km + 25 for charity.
*will post again later on with a recap on the event we just had.. just need to get my individual bs out the way first.
-
CAP.
First in the arena.
11.50pm Friday night.
Last to leave.
6pm Saturday night.
One word.
BRUTAL!
This fkn dragon just wouldn’t go down.
85 was the target.
Sword broke @ 24.
14hours of nothing but trying to string together a couple 100metres at a time.
The course was unforgiving, even for the best of us.
I looked around to my men.
Every pair of tired eyes told the same story.
Broken bodies pushed to the limit.
Exhausted.
Drained.
I kept my smile finishing off my laps.
As much as I was defeated I understood the power that comes with leadership, if they see their cap fall then there’s no one to help steer the ship & the chaos becomes too uncontrollable.
Always counted on,
Never counted out.
So we made the adjustments.
A whole heap of them.
What worked for one lap didn’t work for the next.
Pulled out every trick I knew & slowly reeled in that dragon.
The resume is finally updated,
but unfortunately at a cost I wasn’t hoping to pay so early on in the year.
Grateful I got to carve my name into 85 logs.
And this 85 has carved me up in return.
Price paid.
We’ll call it even.
This game can be so cruel when the dots won’t connect.
But it’s the game.
You either love it or leave it.
So bring on the next one!
LONG LIVE THE MFKN KIDS ⚔️
‼️NEW COACH‼️
Name: Alkin Lavea aka Alks aka The Comeback Kid aka The Captain aka Prince Point of the Chevalier ⚔️
Ethnicity: Samoan/Chinese - Part time Cookie lol MANIHIKI STAND UP!! 😂😂
⭕️What is one thing you love about exercise/training?
Mostly the benefits of where it takes me mentally. I’ve been on some pretty tough ultra runs on the road by myself & every time I’ve come back from them stronger mentally & found more answers to my questions then prior to starting the run. Everything after that is just a byproduct of being in love with movement, better father, partner & friend. + my kids are on the come up, I know that day will come when they step up to the plate & challenge dad. Who am I to deny such a request 💀😂
⭕️ What do you enjoy about coaching? - It’s hard to explain lol but have you ever seen someone’s fighting spirit ignite? Everyone’s got one.. and with enough time, reps & logs stacked. Once it gets going, that man/woman will be a hard person to put down.. It’s such a beautiful thing to witness.
⭕️Outside of training and coaching, what is one thing you enjoy doing?
I live a pretty simple life lol There’s only 2 things I ever do. Spend time with my little family.. and if I’m not with them then I’m outside running the numbers up!
⭕️What does service mean to you?
Service towards one’s family, community & country. I’ve grown up heaps now 😅😂 but I do believe kindness & service towards others is how we pay rent here on earth.
⭕️What’s a full circle moment you’ve experienced?
Long story short. I dropped out of high school when I was I was 15-16. Had no sense of direction. At 18 when I went to back to study to be a personal trainer but the weight of my sins & habits far outweighed my dreams. I was lost just going through the motion. At 25 my first child arrived, life changed. Grass turned green. 12 years later at age of 30 I get presented the opportunity to finish what 18 year old me set off to do. Full circle G ⭕️
⭕️Favourite lift/movement or exercise?
I can’t lie I do love a cheeky bicep pump & a run straight after 😂😂😂 yeeeee
