Itâs become a Philly tradition: the first Friday of January ushers in a new year and it marks the start of @PhillyLovesBowie Week! Philly-based tribute band Candy Volcano rocking Free At Noon kicked off the week-long celebration the music of the Starman at @ArdmoreMusicHall .
Of recent, Candy Volcanoâs (@candyvolcano4ever ) performances have centered on album anniversaries, and this year it was a big one: 'Young Americans' turns 50 on March 7th. Itâs the iconic âPhilly Soulâ offering from Bowie recorded in part at Chinatownâs Sigma Sound Studio, and the album that cemented Philadelphiaâs love affair with Bowie. Seeking:
* Influence / Tone 70's glam rock - and whatever else is in your trick bag / Acoustic or any other instrumentation a plus.
* able to commit to rehearsal schedule beginning September 2024 through December. Collingswood area.
* Good humans only - age, self-identification (she/he/they/ney-we were made for you, tootie boo) doesn't matter - energy, chops, ability to communicate, get into what we're about and bring it absolutely does.
* Show up - to rehearsal on time, prepared, know your part and collaborate with the band - bring your special deliciousness to the party!
We are a community of SJ / Philly area musicians / singers part time "project" performance art band, all in for the love of 70's Glam Rock and Bowie. We have 3-5 shows coming up for fall / winter, including Philly Loves Bowie Week shows in early January.
