In preparation for my trip to Columbiamoda I made a capsule collection and had to actually name each piece. š One of the pieces which I submitted was a butterfly Fascinator (not this one) which style, is one of my signature pieces and I have done many variations.
The one in the photo however, would have to be my fave. As you know for me, I like EXTRA!
Today I flashback to the Momma of Butterfly fascinators. I could not call it Butterfly as that would be soooo very boring so of course, I had to name it after the owner of this piece.
When you place an order for Butterfly headwear, you can ask for a āConnieā. Her love for butterflies lies deep in her heart so it was only fitting. I love you my friend @theconniesmithyoung Thanks for always trusting me with your headwear and just letting me create and do my thing. I truly appreciate that. .

First it had to be blocked. Then those pleats made, which of course each one had to be evenly spaced. Then I put it in the back burner for months.
Then Gold Cup approached and I took it out again, but not inspired so put it back down and worked on other bits.
Easter approached and I thought what a great colour for the season but still not inspired so put it down.
Then @theconniesmithyoung messaged about something else but also sent a photo of this dress. I was immediately inspired because I thought beads. I thought the little white bits in her dress were beads, but they are not. I was still inspired when she told me. Anyway Connie came over to collect her stuff, poked around and asked if I had anything else, so, I retreated to my work room and brought this out. She tried it on, loved it and was ready to take it home. I had to let her know the little colour beads are actually pin heads keeping the pleats in place. (They were made, but not sewn). Anyway, my mission now was to finish it. Which I did with green crystal beads (which I thought I ran out of so started with another bead, then realised I had more so then had to replace the 3 I had sewn on already) and also jade beads. It took me about 3 hours, beading and sewing. But soooo very worth it.
The feathers are removable and the hat may be worn plain. Or it would be really savvy with a brooch (now trending).
The cover photo of Connie is the actual colour of the hat. Some of my images lost the actual colour.

I originally started this headpiece with Gold Cup in mind. I eventually made the bigger, better all white version for that day.
Anyway, I finally completed it.
I always say, go big or go home!
