Today is 4 months since my father passed away.
I’m still getting adjusted to using past tense phrasing to describe someone who was just so present.
My father was kind, intelligent, hilarious, considerate, fair and polite. Sensitive, intuitive and street smart. He had the purest heart and always looked for the good in people. He upheld the Golden Rule throughout his life, treating everyone he encountered no less than how he would like to be treated. His morals were unsurpassable.
He was the voice of reason. I always looked to him for guidance and reassurance and valued every word he said.
For most of our childhood, my father raised my brothers and myself as a single parent and provided us with whatever he could. At our most unstable, I felt safe and secure with him leading the way.
He wasn’t just my dad, he was a dear friend. I never felt so understood the way he understood me. He would know what I was feeling and why before I could even finish the thought. He just got me. He got everything.
There are times when it feels very real, and then there are times where it doesn’t feel real at all.
I am grateful that I got to know him so well while he was older and wiser, and learn even more from him.
I am grateful to have had his influence in building who I am, and who I aspire to be, as a person. That was a gift, and I could never have asked for anything more.
And I am just so grateful that I will always be lucky enough to call that man, the sweetest, most decent man, my father.
I love you, Dad. Always and forever. ❤️

Hey girl, I never heard back from you after our date. Was it all the Facebook game invites my mom sent you? We should meet up. I still owe you $14 for covering our meal at the Dunkin Donuts from the last time. If I give it back, then you can use that same $14 to get me more Dunkin Donuts. It’s like recycling, but with bagels. I have a new date planned for us. Ready? We can go have a day trip at the Sam Ash where I will carefully explain the differences between Power Slinky strings and Regular Slinky strings. I shred. Then I will play the opening riff of Enter Sandman through a very loud amp over and over until someone acknowledges me. Yea. Take my hand. R’off to never-never land, baby. Or if you want, you can stay double parked in the car with my phone still hooked up to the bluetooth while my mom calls and says hello a whole lot. Whatever your little heart desires. But if she asks, tell her I don’t want any chicken cutlets tonight. I’m busy! After that, I will take you on a romantic journey to the Mobil Mart parking lot, where I will treat you to some scratch-offs and an energy drink that comes in a can with a very aggressive font! Then you can watch me vape. The world is your oyster🤘🏻 🖤
This is a super loaded post that’s been collecting dust in my notes folder for way over a year about a friggin’ curio cabinet. In this “post” we have a bunch of words and two videos of me pointing while babbling. Also included is a pic of me that’s so old it is now rotting, all for the mere purpose of displaying a slight glimpse of said curio cabinet as if this is a Price is Right showcase, but where all the prizes come from Spirit Halloween. I call this: “Mannequin Hand.”
