Iāll never forget the day. I was having a meeting with
@janellenicoleinc at the L. Brands HQ to chat, network and garner some wisdom about possible directions I could take here in Columbus to build a career in the fashion space. We made a move to the city the year prior immediately following the completion of my Masterās degree from
@scaddotedu . While I was still freelancing on various gigs and continuing to share fashion and style advice online, I applied for a couple jobs and nothing was really sticking. To say I was feeling defeated would be an understatementā¦I sat in the tension of doubt, questioning self-worth and ultimately wondering if my decision to go all in on styling was truly the right one.
As I was leaving the meeting with Janelle, I ran into
@belindajeansmith at the entrance of the building. Belinda was one of the first gals I ever met before I even moved to Columbus. I always knew that Columbus would be the move once I completed my studies at SCAD. Since I was doing school online, I spent lots of my free time commuting back and forth to the 614 and establishing myself online as a āColumbus based style influencer,ā as I feared the market would be too saturated if I waited. As a result of the work, I was able to connect with some incredible gals and Belinda was one of them. As she was coming and I was going, we had a quick embrace and she said, āHey, you know Wardrobe Therapy is hiring?ā If memory serves me right, it was that evening or a few evenings later that I sent my resume over to
@ebeansmith and while having an early dinner at Harvest Pizzeria, she e-mailed me back and asked me to meet to connect for coffee. And of course, you know the rest is history.
