It’s that time of year again… I was accepted into a summer conducting workshop! This year, it’s a bit of a trek and more than double the length and podium time. I am incredibly excited to go to Medomak, but I need your help! Any amount you can donate helps, but most of all, PLEASE SHARE!

Spring quarter conducting docket! On top of everything pictured, I will also be regularly assisting rehearsals and sectionals for the symphony orchestra’s repertoire for the quarter. Pray for me 😭

As I look over my videos for applications, it felt like time to share a bit of the String Sinfonia concert two months ago. Incredibly excited to work with them more fully next quarter! Full video at link in bio :)

First quarter of graduate conducting study is officially finished! From hours and hours of study, to Beethoven lab conducting with the WSO, to the incredible time with the String Sinfonia (congratulations Genevieve on such a strong showing!), to performing with the BSO, I’m off to a wonderful start!

What an amazing week at PLU with so many new friends. I cannot thank them enough, as well as the faculty team of Sarah Ioannides, Ayis Ioannides, and Zeke Faltrow for helping me come out of my anxious shell.
Pictured second is our Firebird conducting team of Shohei, Emily, Yuxin and I. We did it!!
I can’t wait to see all of these great people again (hopefully soon).
Really successful final couple of conducting engagements last week! A matinee concert for elementary kids, followed by the full concert on the 17th. It is such a blessing to still play in this orchestra as I begin to conduct it, especially getting to play Star Wars!

Successful first conducting engagement of the week on Chroma for Nine! Really engaging 26 minute piece for a really unique instrumentation. Congratulations @isaiah_koscho !
A little update post!
My first quarter of graduate conducting study is coming to a close! I had a lot of fun working on Tchaikovsky’s 5th symphony over a couple lab conducting sessions with the orchestra. I have a lot of work to do and a lot of things to improve, and I am excited to do so! Next quarter will bring at least one piece I’ll conduct with the orchestra in a concert setting. Stay tuned!
Disclaimer: in both instances, this is the second time the orchestra has ever seen this music, the first being an initial read-through! We will perform the Tchaikovsky in June
