The Brandeis Department of Theater Arts is pleased to announce that Professor Cameron Anderson has been awarded the 2026-2027 Rome Prize. Anderson, who serves as the Chair of Theater Arts and the Barbara Sherman ’54 and Malcolm L. Sherman Associate Professor, received the Billie Tsien Prize for Design.
The Rome Prize is a highly competitive national honor supporting innovative work across the arts and humanities. As an internationally recognized set and projection designer, Anderson’s work has been featured at leading theater and opera companies worldwide.
The award includes a fully funded six-month residency at the American Academy in Rome in 2027. This recognition places Cameron’s design work in the performing arts within a broader national design context, highlighting the interdisciplinary impact of Anderson’s professional practice.

Cameron Anderson, the Barbara Sherman ’54 and Malcolm L. Sherman Associate Professor of Theater Arts, has received the prestigious Rome Prize for her work in theater set design.
