Came down to Costa Rica thinking I was just there to film… ended up walking away with a whole lot more.
Met Talon on day one after watching him tear apart a wave like he’s been doing it his whole life, because he has. Born and raised on the Osa Peninsula, he knows this place in a way you can’t fake. The tides, the breaks, the rhythm of it all.
What was supposed to be a solo mission turned into 14 days deep in the jungle, chasing waves, learning the land, and building a real friendship along the way. That’s the thing about travel, it gives you what you didn’t know you needed.

We met Aaron a local who’s been surfing these breaks for over 20 years. The kind of guy who doesn’t just surf… he understands the ocean, the rhythm, the timing, all of it. He took Hunter and I in and showed us around, not just where to surf, but how to move, where to be, and how things are really done here. There’s something different about learning from someone who’s lived it their whole life. You can feel it in the water. Trips come and go, but it’s people like this that stay with you.

Last year I had the opportunity to work with @cyrus_sutton and help shoot a film about rebuilding LA from the fires. We went to learn what natural building is all about and how it’s fire resistance.
