@galeriaomr is thrilled to announce a new site-specific installation for the Courtyard of @palazzostrozzi by @superflexstudio . “There Are Other Fish In The Sea” reinforces the collective’s premise of rethinking the role of art in relation to the social, economic, and environmental dynamics of our time.
Curated by @arturogalansino , Director General of the Fondazione Palazzo Strozzi, the installation establishes a suggestive and unexpected dialogue with the Renaissance architecture of the courtyard as eight pink travertine columns emerge from a large body of water covering the entire space. These structures are conceived as potential refuges for water creatures for when sea levels rise in the future; on the 60th anniversary of the 1966 Florence flood, the installation challenges the centrality of humanity through interspecies architecture, bridging humans and marine life forms.

The Iglesia de Santo Domingo de Guzmán in Uayma dates to 1646, built during the colonial period using stones from earlier Maya structures.
Its façade is incredibly unique, one of the most special I have seen in Yucatán. Mudejar-influenced stucco work, ajaracas, rosettes, and star motifs in red and white. The Habsburg double-headed eagle at the central detail marks Spain’s imperial presence at the time.
The church was burned during the 19th-century Caste War and restored in the early 2000s.
