Oh hi I’ve not been on here much and likely won’t be in the new year, but as this one ends my heart and my hopes are going out to all of you, friends… There’s no clean slate for ‘26, we are more a mess than ever, but I do think that we get to make fresh tracks: a step at a time toward the things we believe in 🤍 HNY
This beautiful new online mag has a nifty page-turn feature (best on laptop, not phone!) and with its focus on artistic community @tethered_literary is a bright light in these challenging times ✨ I am delighted to have a story in their summer issue, and would also be delighted if you went to check it out! I wrote this one some years ago, and it’s sort of different from my other work (has a male narrator & is drawn from my Cuban side) so I’d be grateful to hear how/if it lands for ya’ll 🙏✌️➖
We spent the weekend at my sister’s house and got to celebrate Ella’s birthday with all the cousins (my girl broke her leg as you can see, but she is getting along fine) and I keep looking at this photo, and just keep thinking what massive privilege we enjoy in keeping these children safe and fed… fourteen years as a parent now, I’ve had that privilege every day… but the children are always ours, every single one of them, all over the globe… and if anyone is looking for a place to give (right away, it’s already so late!!) links in my bio for @thepcrf and @rescue.org 🕊️
