This Saturday, May 2nd, @papaya.official presents RP Coast. Experience a live set featuring 80 bpm head-nodders, ambient drift, and 21st-century balladry.
RP COAST, a Philadelphia-based musician, delivers computer-refracted almost-songs direct from the heart. Previous recordings have appeared on @calla_discs
Stick around as @_shai.fm_ takes over for the final segment of the evening.
Food from @fatandydoughco outside and a curated menu by @forincafe 👀
UP NEXT ~ newly ensconced in the lofted space above Forîn on Coral St; Them Local launches a series of hyperlocal, daytime sonic soirées, the first of which is being hosted by frequent CALLA DISCS collaborator DJ Papaya on Saturday, May 2nd.
Papaya, who is behind fav Philly parties Spindrift and Chrysalis, always brings the heat — flitting between highly pressurized bass music and environmental ambient with ease and panache.
Also on the bill, RP Coast escapes from the studio at Club Tennis for a live set — expect 80bpm head nodders, ambient drift, and 21st century balladry.
Maestro of sub bass Shai FM rounds out the proceedings with a glimpse into the downtempo sounds that have been inspiring some of his more recent productions.
Come by, check out the new shop, soak up the sublime frequencies, and grab a cuppa.

New to the archives: November’s collaborative guest mix from net denizens mon1ka and Betty Hammerschlag. This is bleeding edge internet music; the post-broadband bounty of collapsing musical contexts.

Following a clutch of hotly-tipped, self-released recordings, Cancer House’s new record full of ‘dark, sweet, crawling guitar music’ arrives on Motion Ward this spring. We are pleased to welcome them for their first ever performance in Philadelphia with support from:
JS, the Motion Ward head and half of the duo behind the JJ+JS records, will be providing selections for the occasion.
LXV, local underground hero back from a recent northeastern excursion in support of his latest collection, ‘Colloidal’.
LN Celestine, an interdisciplinary artist and staple of east-coast diy environs, delivering a drone-fwd session.
A suggestion: wear socks that you like! Because & Space is a working dance studio, this is a shoe-free zone. We will have a place for you to check your shoes.

RP Coast, Sibyl / Cybele [CD024]
In the first CALLA DISCS release of 2026, RP Coast delivers two love-crushed, chopped n’ screwed ballads. ‘Sibyl’ skews triumphant and ‘Cybele’ downbeat, but both will take you away from the claustrophobic present. Short but sweet — some brief mirage.

a summer mix in December:
Now up on SoundCloud—August’s edition of Blue Sky Approach. A b2b mix with one of my favorite DJs (and a treasured friend), DJ Furniture.
We took an hour earlier this year to weave thru the six-stringed slipstream, all from the comfort of my home studio. The set took us from indie rock torch songs to “folk” music in the broadest sense: palm wine music, Irish airs, Saharan desert blues, Swiss obscurities, bubblegum Dylan-runoff, and 70s British balladeers.
