From heritage and identity to education, migration, and multilingualism, our recent conversation at the French in Motion event was an inspiring exchange of ideas on the evolving place of French in the United States. French is not simply a language inherited – it is something continuously lived, reshaped, reclaimed, and shared across generations and communities. Thank you to everyone who joined us for this meaningful discussion, and to our remarkable speakers and partners for helping to make this event possible. For all those who want to be part of the discussion, watch the full recording of the event! (Link in comments) Read our full reflections and key takeaways on our newsletter. (Link in comments) With gratitude to: Organisation internationale de la Francophonie (OIF), French Morning, CALEC – TBR Books, our speakers, and everyone who works to keep our discussions in motion. #french #frenchinmotion #bilingualism #books #culture #education #discussion #learning #francophone #nyc

Despite the moody clouds of last Saturday, we were glad to still see so many bright and beaming faces at the “En Français, Oui but Why?” Event held at Lycée Français de New York. We had the pleasure of talking to parents dedicated to the multilingual education of their children, scholars interested in the studies of language, and most joyously – kids attracted to the aesthetic visuals of our books! Mr Michel Xavier Biang (Permanent Representative of the International Organisation of La Francophonie to the United Nations) also visited our stand as he spotted a copy of our newly launched “Le français autour de nous – Volume 2”. Grab your copy from CALEC’s shelves if you haven’t yet! This was a lovely event and we thank the hard work of everyone who came together and made it such a success. #bilingualism #french #books #culture #education #discussion #learning #francophone #nyc

Bonne journée mondiale du livre et du droit d’auteur! On this wonderful World Book and Copyright Day, CALEC fondly looks back at the memories we made with our authors and dedicated readers at the recent Festival du Livre. The majestic halls of the Grand Palais left a mighty first impression, but the festival was made truly magical by the people involved. Thank you to all our lovely readers who came down to support us, we were truly heartened to see so many fans of our publications! Not only was the festival a great way for our authors to bond with readers, but it was also a good platform for them to interact with each other. It was wonderful to catch up with so many new and old friends who share a common passion. In conclusion, Festival du Livre de Paris 2026 was a spellbinding event, and everyone on the CALEC team would attest to that. “I’m very happy to have taken part in the Festival du Livre de Paris! The CALEC team was amazing and the atmosphere at the stand was fantastic. We welcomed many visitors and introduced them to our books, with very enthusiastic feedback. A great experience!” (Baptiste Broutin, CALEC member) “After three days at the Grand Palais, I leave reminded that language is more than words—it is identity, memory, and connection. Every conversation, every story shared here reinforces a simple truth: when we nurture languages, we keep cultures alive and build bridges across the world. Thank you for these days of exchange—may the voices we’ve heard continue to travel far beyond Paris.” (Fabrice Jaumont, CALEC President) See you in 2027! #worldbookday #worldcopyrightday #france #paris #education #nyc #culture #nyclife
