13yrs old…. Finally a teenager Alia. Wow…. About to graduate from middle school and my little girl be off to high school. Where has time gone?…. It seems like just the other day we were sitting in your bedroom in Ashland City rocking in your rocking chair, talking about what hard work might bring if we stuck to the plan. That one day we’d make it out and get some house on a hill somewhere.
While the most important thing before you got here was for me to teach you all the things I learned (and didn’t…) Whether that be from hard lessons learned from life or all the things I learned from listening and watching my dad and granddaddy. I soon learned that we’d have a much different relationship.
1st softball game, 1st sleep over, 1st time riding a bike or even just us going for a walk, going to prom. The list goes on of 1st’s that I often find myself thinking about that seemed as if they’d no longer come to fruition.
Turns out those things are happening. I’m just not there yet. It drives me mad sometimes trying to piece together what those moments would’ve looked like or even more so what you’re looking like as time goes on.
They’d put a butterfly on the door flying off symbolizing that a child had passed. Not too long ago on a hike I had a butterfly stay beside me for what seemed to be like a mile, just flying beside me the whole way. I know it was you. Every time I see one I think it’s you.
Get into some fun today, you deserve it baby, I’m proud of you. A teenager… man….

@charlyplant_ is a cowgirl so she was in her element the whole week. She rode and fed more horses than we could count, stepped in more horse shit than we could count and got see all her DFW cowboys. @jettplant_ was fearless as usual and wanted to do everything Charly did.
Me & @itsjordanplant got to eat the best steak in Texas @cattlemenssteakhousefortworth and after I told her to “save a horse” and you know what comes after that 🐎🏜️🐎
