It’s kinda cool cause in some ways it’s sort of an installation piece with the video and the tv (tho one could say any live performance is an installation art piece, low key). I like doing this cause it really honestly encourages focus and reading (I need to figure out how to make the text bigger).

BACH!!!
Clips of some Bach I’ve been checking out. Finally getting into the Mass in B Minor and also continuing my exploration with his St Matthew Passion, been really into Masaaki Suzuki and the Bach Collegium Japan. Also a clip of the adagio from the c minor organ tocatta! (I DO NOT OWN ANY OF THOSE RECORDINGS).
The way they do the chorales in the passion is so crisp
Also there’s clips of me practicing Bach today. Sarabande from the flute partita, also on piano one of the little preludes and the end of the 1st invention going to the 9th.

The whole first mvt of the Bach Eb Sonata, at tempo! I remember very vividly a time when I could only play this at 60% tempo speed, so there’s progress there. BUT GOLLY! My intonation SUCKS 😂 it’s just all over the place, but HEY if I could play this piece with good intonation, articulation, and tone, I’d be a professional flautist, (objectively), I just have to be more patient.

Bach. I need to add the ornaments and vary the articulation, but the sound is decently consistent through out. The challenge for me with these is making the phrases feel like they’re moving and going somewhere (without necessarily rushing the tempo), I love Bach. Probably will post another take soon.
There’s a baby crying in the background. I teach at a church and we have pretty young students who have even younger siblings lol

I overall like the tone and general control of dynamics. The front end articulation of a lot of the notes (something I’ve been trying to be more conscious of) is pretty clear overall too. I also think, overall, the pedal use adds to piece rather than muddies up the clarity (which is something I fall into sometimes). I wish though that I used more silence, like those moments where I stop the sound coming from the instrument, I wish those moments were a little longer. Also, I need to try to be more conscious of note lengths. Sometimes I feel like I inadvertently either hold a note down longer than I mean to or maybe leave the pedal down too long, idk, I should try to be more intentional and aware about how long I allow notes to ring. Also phrase lengths, while playing I played phrases that, in the moment, I thought were pretty short, but when listening back, were actually way longer. So that also soemthing to consider. Like I’ll add things to a phrase that maybe are not needed.
The clarity and articulation in the faster moving phrases I think is pretty good.
The audio is pretty low in this, so it’s best with headphones but whatever is fine too.
