I got asked the other day if Iāve ever felt like a camera has taken away from me ābeing in the momentā.
I was about to answer, when I paused to give it some further thought. It actually sparked significant reflection on some of my best memories from past adventures. I have them all photographed, and I look back on them often for inspiration. Would my experience have changed without the camera? I still wonder sometimes.
I feel the need to pick up a camera when I look at something thatās so breathtaking, my emotions are trapped inside me. Itās an emotion that pierces my soul. I have to take the picture, I have to share it. Photos are powerful. They can tell incredible stories, feed your soul with passion, and communicate emotions seldom felt. Honestly, I donāt know if the camera is a distraction or not; but I do know that my passion for sharing these stories and places is stronger than ever before. Iāll always take the picture.

I once remember hearing that the longest journey we humans make is the inches from our heads to our hearts.
Iāve seldom felt this distance shorter than when Iām swinging on ropes with my camera. Iāve known since I was 14 what I wanted to be; An adventure photographer! That evolved, and video soon became my new voice to share adventures.
And today I crave documenting authentic stories more than anything else. However a dream can become blurred when life gets too busy.
Spending enough time rooted in my core passions, like filming climbing, has been crucial. This is a reminder to always keep room in your life for the passions that close the distance between your head and heart. Letās chase our dreams together! š

š¾ ITāS TIME!!! The Centennial Expedition š¾ @mushmaine šNenana - Nome, Alaska 2025
Iām currently in a truck, with 16 Seppala Siberian Huskies and our team, all dreaming of the adventure to come. We are about to embark on a 20 day expedition through the Lower Arctic to retrace the original 700 mile serum run of 1925, on its 100th year anniversary during the darkest and coldest days of winter.
I not only have the privilege to be a member of this historic expedition, but also to document a story of one of the greatest displays of human and animal resiliency in history. Preparing for filming in -50 degree Alaska has been a calculated process. There will be no shortage of challenges and uncertainty on the journey ahead, but Iām committed to this story and the culture that surrounds it. Iām learning so much, and I look forward to sharing this with you all through a very special documentary.
Follow me and @mushmaine for daily updates and to learn more about what this whole journey is about.
Thank you to my sponsors who make telling stories like this possible for me šš»
