Floorworkshop
Using principles of momentum, suspension, and release, we'll spill, slide, pour, and sweep through space. Starting with floorwork fundamentals and building into standing movement, class will get us more comfortable with falling and introduce pathways to more efficiently enter and exit movement at a low-level. Pulling from somatic practices, contemporary dance, street styles, and Limon modern ♥️
*please note this class is geared towards advanced dancers -- open classes coming next month :)

Calder White is a freelance dance artist based on the unceded and stolen lands of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations (“Vancouver, BC, Canada”). He pulls heavily from his training in Limón, Bartenieff Fundamentals, and Countertechnique to inform his teachings of weight, fall and suspension, and compartmentalizing the body. Calder has shared his workshops with institutions across North America including Modus Operandi, University of California Santa Barbara, Yukon Contemporary Training Community, Ottawa Dance Directive, and Hamilton College. Training and performing with Shay Kuebler since the summer of 2017, he brings Shay’s ideas surrounding floorwork into the studio and focuses on foundational movements/drills originating in breaking and martial arts to facilitate healthy relationships with gravity. Calder choreographs his own work and is a company member with Radical System Art, Josh Beamish/MOVE the company, and Santa Barbara Dance Theater.

Tomboy (Chłopczyca) by @mateusz_west@thefranktheatre closed on Sunday but I'm still pinching myself over this project 🥀 Making my acting debut at @thecultch to 6 sold-out audiences was an absolutely bonkers experience and getting to do so with a team of collaborators that I'm obsessed with made the process even sweeter. I guess you can hire me as an actor now?! I learned so much in such a short period of time and none of this would've been possible without the major support of the team -- tons of love for these gaylords 🖤
