I'm 35 today. The last year has been eventful. My friends have said I'm in my stride. Creatively, I tend to agree. My work is thriving. Life has delivered good highs amid some staggering lows. I worked hard through relentless setbacks. I made a game, campaigned on it, funded it, and ordered it, and shipped it out to a thousand people. The process left me physically, mentally, emotionally drained. I didn't rest. I've already begun work on a new game and opened up private playtesting. It's been invigorating. A good distraction.
Through all of this, I have run like an engine without oil. My life feels smaller and quieter now than it did a year ago. I have experienced more stress in the last year than in prior five years combined. My therapist says I look worse. I don't know, but it often feels like I am dying. It is remarkable how creative life can be when the thumbscrews start turning. Still, I exist and I persist to the best of my abilities. It is all I can do.
My sincerest thanks to all those I love and those who have kept by my side throughout the last year. More soon.
