It was so much fun creating the wedding cake and grooms cake sculpture
and event planner @mindyweiss and her team were an absolute joy to work with💕

I was terrified!🥹
Crying as I hugged my mom goodby at the Maui airport saying
💔“I hope this cake business works Mom. It’s all l’ve got now”
She & my Dad had been there supporting me through leaving an emotionally abusive relationship and while I was relieved, I was also broken inside.
Up until then I’d been building @cakefanatics part time
but this change ment l’d need to rely on it completely.
🥳Spoiler alert she thrived but I wouldn’t have gained the confidence/self trust it took without these 3 things:
1️⃣ Small steps, one at a time
I didn’t wake up confident.
I took the next step every day.
1 conversation, 1 sale, 1 task, 1 cake & one therapy session at a time.
Self-trust & confidence is built through small kept promises to yourself.
Each step made me more confident that “I can trust myself to figure it out”
2️⃣Emotional support (Co-regulation) from people who believe in me
I didn’t & still don’t do it alone.
I surrounded myself with people who wanted me to succeed (and let go of people who didn’t)
I chose people who saw my potential even when I didn’t.
👉Your nervous system needs safe people to regulate with while you’re building & healing.
3️⃣ Committing to Deciding to figure it out every day
I said yes to wild designs I’d never executed before and DECIDED that l’d figure it out even if it scared me
And every time I delivered them with success...
I trusted myself more.
I took on projects that made me nervous and expanded me
And I figured it out as I went choosing to be confident even when it’s felt unnatural.
