I just learned about the concept of soft fascination, where humans love and crave both predictability and novelty. Apparently, it’s why we love staring at the waves so much: we can anticipate what’s coming, but no wave is identical so our brains can stay engaged and regulate the nervous system at the same time. Very cool, thought I’d share!!
